Dr. Ric Mathis is an independent visual storyteller with expertise in photojournalism, video production, and documentary filmmaking. A graduate of Georgia State University with a doctorate in Entertainment and Media Studies, he also holds a Part 107 Drone Pilot Certification and studied music management and marketing at Fort Valley State University.

Dr. Mathis is known for his powerful visual work, including the acclaimed documentary Black Friday: What Legacy Will You Leave?, which addresses the wealth gap in Black communities and highlights the importance of economic empowerment and legacy building. His creative vision has been sought after by national and global brands such as Walmart, Pepsi, Bigen, Essence Music Festival, 100 Black Men of America, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and Home Depot.

In addition to his media career, Dr. Mathis has spent over a decade working with the Atlanta Department of Education and community organizations, offering therapeutic support, counseling, and resources to families. His work continues to bridge storytelling, advocacy, and cultural preservation.
