Harold David Hairston-Ridgley, Jr. is a distinguished educator, author, and real estate executive whose six-decade career spans public education, federal leadership, and entrepreneurial success. A former Director within the U.S. Department of Education, he was among the first Black specialists to serve in newly desegregated school systems, later launching Option 1 Intl Realty, Inc. in Atlanta.

He is the author of You Can’t Drop Out of High School and Drop Into a Good Job!, recognized by President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, and a contributing voice in Saving Our Daughters from a Man’s Point of View. Through both his work and words, Harold continues to impact future generations with wisdom, dignity, and a deep commitment to legacy-building.
